WELCOME TO CRAIGIELEA NURSING HOME AND CRAIGIELEA LODGE
Craigielea in its present form was established in 1982 to look
after the needs of older people from the local area. The premises
for the Home were given to the Gateshead Dispensary Trust by their
former owner, who had been running a convalescent and maternity home
for many years. This history of caring for the people of Gateshead
dates back to 1832 when the Gateshead Dispensary Trust was set up in
the days when we had no NHS.
The modern day Craigielea looks after 60 older people who need the
extra care and security of trained staff in surroundings which are
homely and comfortable.
All services at Craigielea are run on a not-for-profit basis, and
fees are set at the rate which is available from the Local Authority
for those residents who are eligible, and at the same rate for
people who are self funding and pay their own fees. We do not charge
any extras, or “top up” fees.
Mrs Joy Wright is our Administrator, and she is happy to help with
any enquiries for information about the services we provide, what
our facilities are, our fees, and making appointments to view the
Home. Deborah Doran, our Nurse Manager, and Pat Hillary, our
Residential Care Manager, are also happy to help with any enquiries.
